Spelling lists are given to students on Fridays and the test is administered the following Friday. They work with the words throughout the week.
Each test consists of 18 words which follow a particular spelling pattern of focus for the week, plus two review words, and two challenge words. Students are also given a sentence using five of their spelling words. This sentence is dictated to them on the day of the test. They must correctly spell all of that week’s words within the sentence, use a capital letter at the beginning of the sentence, not omit any words (must make sense), and include proper punctuation to follow.
